The project engaged around three women candidates from each targeted Union Council (UC) of Multan and Muzaffargarh for the Local Bodies Elections. The elections took place in Punjab on September 20, 2015, and as per the Punjab Local Government Act 2013, there were two reserved seats for women in each UC. WRAP selected and identified three women candidates from each of the 128 UCs of Multan district and 93 UCs of Muzaffargarh district. Identification of Barriers to Girls’ Education in Targeted Districts of South Punjab ( Grantee Name: Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) )

SPARC carried out a research study in the three target districts to identify issues that create hurdles for the education of young girls aged 16 or less.

The research was employed through qualitative data collection tools including focus group discussions, interviews, and case studies to gather information to identify the factors inhibiting the development of the young girls. Innovative Tele-health Facilities in District Muzaffargarh ( Grantee Name: HANDS )

Tele-health diagnostics and clinical consultation services are being provided at five selected BHUs. The backend hub is established at DHQ/THQ/RHC Muzaffargarh. A total of 17,000 patients of all ages will be examined and provided specialised medical advice during the six-month period of the project. An average of 30 patients who require specialised diagnostic and investigative intervention will be managed daily using tele-health and biomedical sensing in especially established centers for this purpose, equipped with innovative remote healthcare gadgets.

AAP, in partnership with the AAWAZ Response Fund, implemented the project in four districts (Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan). AAP targeted 400 women sanitary workers (100 in each district) as direct beneficiaries.
